Exploring Prequel Parallels Between Transformers: One and Mufasa

Prequels are all the rage in Hollywood currently. They help or are known to flesh out a franchise beyond the conventional nature or expectations of sequels.

The focus in this article is on two upcoming features:

Mufasa – a prequel to The Lion King Saga and Transformers: One – a prequel and potential reboot to Hasbro’s Transformers franchise.

Beyond just the obvious fact that both movies are prequels to well-established and popular franchises.

Their in-story elements are worth looking out for as well. Particularly because certain similarities can also be found.

How Both Prequels are Similar

Mufasa and Transformers: One are prequels first and foremost. But certain story elements that have been teased about the individual projects also grant them a shared affinity.

Starting with Mufasa, this story is set to revolve around the early stages of Mufasa’s life. A character audiences are familiar with as the ill-fated king of the Pridelands in The Lion King saga.

Due to this, his embittered brother Scar, is a sure bet in the tale. So the movie majorly has the task of exposing to audiences just how the bad blood seen in the original story began.

The same goes for Transformers: One and what its plans are for an earlier version of the relationship between Optimus Prime and Megatron and their factions; Autobots and Decepticons.

Prequels might be all the rage. But this is quite a peculiar case with Mufasa by Disney and Transformers: One by Paramount.

Mufasa: The Lion King opens in cinemas December 20, 2024.

Transformers: One opens in cinemas September 13, 2024.
