Exploring the Future of Euphoria After Angus Cloud’s Tragic Passing
Euphoria is easily one of the most recognised shows of the 21st century and with good reason. But recently, tragedy struck as actor Angus Cloud who plays Fezco/Fez on the show, met with an untimely end.
Following his demise, the future of Euphoria could be different from what was initially planned. As Fez has been one of the major supporting characters throughout the course of the 2-season existence of the series, thus far.
So how in fact can Euphoria move forward following the demise of Angus Cloud?
This can play out in one of two ways.
The first one being the actor is recast, which will allow the show to continue with some form of normalcy.
The seems more than likely since Fez’s impact throughout the series is [quite] far reaching. Mostly due to his closeness with main character, Rue Bennett and more recently, Lexi Howard.
A recast is necessary if the series hopes to continue exploring the relationship dynamic slowly forming between the two.
On the other hand, a second option would be the show recognises the death of the actor and writes the character off the show.
Given how massive the love for Angus Cloud by his Euphoria family was when news of his death broke. It’s possible, the future of the show has been forever altered to accommodate this misfortune. And rather than lazily do this, the show already has template for which they can use to implement this.
In the Season 2 finale episode, the younger brother, Ashtray ignites an all-out confrontation with the Police which [seemingly] leads to his death and Fezco getting shot. But however, Fezco doesn’t die from the near- mortal injury. And because of this he is, whisked away by the Police when the confrontation comes to end.
An obvious reason for taking him along would be to detain and interrogate him, but before all that, Fezco will need to undergo surgery to remove the bullet embedded in his stomach.
The show could then use this to implement Fez’s death within the series by having viewers believe the character simply died on the operating table. Thus making the actor’s death relevant in a not-so confusing manner.
Obviously, this puts a damper on the series and the relationships that have been forged, but if it serves to enhance more than it detracts. Then this is how this writer believes it should play out.
For fans of series, season 3 is still a sure bet. But in light of current realities, its arrival could certainly take a while. Seasons 1 – 2 of Euphoria are available for download or streaming.
