The Disney Centenary: In Defence of Wish Being the Best Answer

Since Walt Disney founded his eponymous Studio. The mission statement of the now globally renowned Hollywood juggernaut has revolved around inspiring imagination, dreams (which can also be interchangeable with wishes).

A 100 years later, and say what you will about the current state of affairs of the studio. Disney is still the leading brand when it comes to inspiring dreams and ‘wishful thinking’. To crown this, Disney put out the animated feature film, Wish. Which debuted late last year.

Though execution and acclaim were sorely lacking following the theatrical release of Wish.

The conception to use Wish as a celebratory feature does invite some merit for an ingenious idea.

As the story of Wish centres around both the philosophical and physical struggles that surround the realisation of human wishes.

Whether or not, the film successful explored this topic on top of its fan service offerings is another debate entirely.

But what this writer’s bone of contention hinges on is how Wish easily encapsulates the essence of what Disney as a brand has and will always stand for and at pivotal point in its history.
