IronHeart and the Future of Its Release

Ironheart by Marvel Studios is to be a six-part miniseries that furthers the adventures of Riri Williams, played by Dominique Thorne.

Who was introduced in 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

An initial summer ’23 release date was planned for the series. But even this writer knew that Marvel Studios may not adhere to that intended release date. Judging by how crowded the 2023 MCU TV release schedule was.

Since that time, info about a new release date for Ironheart has not been forthcoming and Marvel Studios doesn’t look to be ending the silence soon.

However, following the prolonged drought of info concerning Ironheart, time may have gone by long enough for the silence to be over.

With MCU’s 2024 release schedule looking scanty both on the feature film side and on the series side. Ironheart may be ripe for release. As Marvel Studios currently have only three shows confirmed for release this year.

The first being the grim, action-heavy and Hawkeye spinoff, Echo and the second being the sitcom-pandering WandaVision spinoff, Agatha: Darkhold Dairies. And lastly, the first real taste of mutant mania, with the release of the animated, X-MEN ’97.

Then there’s also the unconfirmed release of What If…? Season 3. Which of course, may or may not release this year.

But considering Ironheart has probably been in post-production since late 2022 till date. This is more than enough for work to have been concluded on the series. Which means Marvel Studios may release info on Ironheart soon.

When Ironheart will Likely Release?

Following the release of Echo last week. The next MCU TV series isn’t until the fall of 2024. Which leaves the summer season barren, save for the theatrical release of Deadpool 3. And the possibility of What If…? season 3 releasing this year, means it will likely score a late year release. Similar to its predecessors.

So that leaves the summer season wide open for an unlikely takeover.

What’s Ahead?

Despite the closeted nature of info surrounding Ironheart and its release. Some informational nuggets have made media rounds, many of which came out during production on the series.

A major one teases that Ironheart may lean more into the mystic than the scientific. Especially with the presence of the series’ villain, The Hood.

Of course, the fan-fiction is that Ironheart should link up with War Machine, seeing as both heroes are basically variations of each other.

But with Armor Wars still far from any production news let alone release news. It will be a while before both characters share the same space.

Unless, Rhodey/War Machine makes the first move and camoes in Ironheart.
