Major Expectations for Deadpool 3

The 2024 blockbluster season may still be a ways off but Deadpool 3 seems to be atop the list of most anticipated features.

Though, there may be a multitude of reason for this if subjective perceptions are considered.

However, this writer has taken the more objective route to flesh out 3 major reasons on why Deadpool 3 is a must watch this year.

In the MCU

Firstly, a huge reason this writer feels Deadpool 3 is a must watch is because as has been confirmed by Marvel Studios, Deadpool 3 will be set in the MCU via multiversal happening.

But nonetheless, by the end or during the course of the movie Deadpool will effectively become MCU property going forward. So fans will certainly be on the look-out for future interactions between Deadpool and a host of other MCU characters. Especially Spider-Man.

Furthermore, Deadpool 3 is set to break new ground for the MCU being the first R-rated feature of the franchise.

Perhaps, in preparation for this, this is also why the Echo series opted for a more mature tone. As opposed to the usual PG-13/family friendly nature of MCU projects.

An Unexpected Return

Another reason this writer feels strongly about Deadpool 3 being a major fixture for the 2024 blockbuster season is because of a largely surprising info that followed the film’s confirmation.

Essentially, we can’t all forget that comical video of Ryan Reynolds & Hugh Jackman explaining the [supposed] plot of Deadpool 3. While using masking out their voice audio with a musical one.

And while at first, it might have seemed like two industry friends just pulling the metaphorical legs of the fanbase. All doubts were laid to rest with the release of set photos.

Photos that gave proof to the revival of Wolverine for Deadpool 3 as well as a number of details and easter eggs.

Since the death of Wolverine back in 2017’s Logan, it was thought almost impossible to reinstate the character back to the big screen. This was even more true for the character’s actor, Hugh Jackman.

But we give thanks to the multiverse as the impossible is now possible.

Furthermore, Elektra as played by Jennifer Garner in 2003’s Daredevil feature film and its spinoff, an eponymous film released in 2005. Will be present for the feature, though in what capacity is still anyone’s guess.

And there are mumblings of the entirety of early 2000’s Fox roster of Marvel characters also joining the feature. From the titular team in the Fantastic Four duology to select characters from the X-Men movies. Which segues into the final point.

Multiversal Impact

The MCU’s multiversal saga has only a handful of projects that currently gives context to the overarching narrative. Though in a matter of months Deadpool 3 will be a part of the contextual projects that will drive the overarching narrative forward.

One of the ways it looks to achieve this is the impending amalgation of the Fox Cinematic Universe of Marvel characters.

In a way, Deadpool 3 is trying reenact what the MCU did with Spider-Man: No Way Home. Just on a much larger scale. Which of course is the mutant entry into the franchise.

With all these ingredients baked in, Deadpool 3 is well on its way to be a blockbuster highlight of 2024.
