RDJ Hints at a Comeback For Tony Stark/Iron Man

Robert Downey Jr. popularly known by his initials RDJ has since become a household name in the American cinema industry (Hollywood) and even globally.

This is thanks in large part to his performance as the cynical billionaire turned armoured avenger who served as the poster child for the MCU during its Infinity Saga era.

The profound status that Iron Man now enjoys in the world of fandom is solely as a result of RDJ’s portrayal in the MCU, which is why even after the character’s passing.

Fans and audiences alike have begun clamouring for a return of the character. And it seems Marvel Studios is also keen on indulging this, as it has been rumoured that members of the OG Avengers could return in some form by or during Avengers: Secret Wars.

Whether or not this will come true, time will tell.

However, since departing the Marvel brand, back in 2019. RDJ has only continued his acting career in small-scale, independent properties. Which is to be expected after such a consistent outpour in the MCU.

Recently, during a Variety Actors on Actors interview with fellow MCU co-star, Mark Ruffalo, RDJ may have hinted at a return to the big-scale adventures.

During the interview, as Mark and Robert recount their cinematic careers, comparing the big-scale and small-scale endeavours, RDJ states at one point, “I continue to love, and I’m happy to eventually in some way reengage with sci-fi fantasy”.

The last part of this statement is the focus and could in fact give credence to the aforementioned rumours. As it seems RDJ is well rested and is ready to get back into blockbuster scene be it for Marvel or some other property.
