The DCU Should Avoid This [MCU] Mistake

We’re only just over a year away from the release of Superman: Legacy. The definitive starter of the DCU.

However, DCU Co-Ceo James Gunn has promised the arrival of the DCU animated series, Creature Commandos in 2024.

While Superman: Legacy hasn’t revealed much about itself, other than its current main cast list.

The character cast list however, is indicative of possible setups in the DCU that should be paid off in the earnest. Pending the release of Superman: Legacy.

For instance, the appearance of The Engineer, Guy Gardener and Supergirl in Superman: Legacy. Could possibly help setup their upcoming projects within the DCU.

Payoffs which should once again be done in earnest. Lest they become stale and ineffective whilst creating undue confusion and apathy in the long run.

The MCU is currently grappling with this error due to their poor handling of the aftermath of Thanos’ infamous snap. At the end of Avengers: Infinity War.

Granted, some Phase 4 projects approached the narrative but for many, context was sorely needed. And that’s not taking into account the other numerous setups that currently exist, and are yet to be paid off.

Though the promise remains to bring all these disparate plotlines together by the end of The Multiverse Saga. Chances are many of them may not get the due attention they deserve. And many more still may be sidelined.

So if the DCU plans on getting it right from the start. Since they’ve opted for the more ambitious route. A good way to ensure that they don’t get buried under their weight. Would be to pay off the set ups as soon as possible.

Therefore, in the event that Superman: Legacy could setup projects like: The Authority, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow and potentially Lanterns. It is advised that DC Studios and James Gunn work to fast track these projects. Before some of the others that have been announced.

Unless of course, stepping over others could hurt the world building of the DCU.

Creature Commandos is set to start streaming sometime later in 2024.
Superman: Legacy is set to open in cinemas July 11, 2025.
The Authority, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow and Lanterns do not currently have release dates.
